With its standard 3.8-liter V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission, the 2021 Nissan Frontier delivers 310 horsepower, giving it plenty of confident power for towing and payload. Depending on the trim and cab style, the capacity shifts slightly, but all Frontiers can handle a minimum of 6,400 pounds.

Towing & Payload Capacity

The 2021 Nissan Frontier towing capacity differs slightly based on trim. The maximum towing capacity is 6,720 pounds for the Frontier King Cab. With 281 lb-ft of torque on the rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive models, the Crew Cab and Crew Cab Long Bed can tow 6,570 and 6,460 respectively. The King Cab can seat four, while the Crew cab seats five.

With a curb weight of 4,343 pounds, the maximum payload on the Frontier is 1,610 pounds. Each truck comes with three channels and four cheats for easy tie-downs. The dimensions of the cargo beds support the payload capacity. With 73.3 inches of length, drivers have plenty of room for longer items.

The width between the wheel wells is 44.5 inches. The depth of the bed measures just under 20 inches.

Nissan offers two wheelbase lengths on the Frontier models, so the short-bed pickup truck has just under five feet of cargo length, and the long-bed increases to slightly more than six feet.
